  1. We hear a lot in the various news media and in educational circles about "internationalization".
  2. Read the following questions and write a composition stating your opinions on internationalization.
  3. Do not feel you need to answer all the questions. They are designed to help you think about the topic.
  4. Use Complex Sentences or Parallel Sentences.
  • What does "internationalization" mean in Japan?
  • What does it mean to become an "international person" in Japan?
  • Do you know any international people?
  • Why are they international?
  • Are you yourself an international person or are you becoming one?
  • How does this affect your daily life? Can you think of something that has happened in your life that has made you feel like an international person?
  • What is the relationship between "internationalism" and language education?
  • What things hinder internationalization?
  • What groups within Japanese society are important in promoting internationalization?
  • Should it change life inside Japan? If so, how? (Think about minority ethnic and racial groups in Japan such as Okinawans, Ainu, Burakumin, Koreans, Chinese, nikkei-jin, and illegal aliens.)
  • Should it change Japanese relations with other countries? If so, how?
