Communicative
Writing November 16, 2002
Housekeeping:
- I received a request a week ago from Hashimoto-sensei that we
change the December 14 class because it conflicts with a special
lecture.
- We can have class either December 7th or 21st.
- Do you have any preferences?
Today:
- This week in your composition, try to use parallelism from the
sheets I gave you before.
Feature
Composition
- This week, the feature composition is
Giving
Your Opinion on a topic that is of
current interest.
- Being able to express what we feel in a
well organized, well supported manner is a very important skill
when writing in English.
- I have given a list of topics at the end
of the Giving Your Opinion composition page, but you may choose
any topic.
- Those of you writing your thesis, may
want to include a topic that has a connection to your
thesis.
- Be sure to use parallelism where it
improves your writing.
- In addition, after you finish writing, go
back and check your use of transitional expressions.
Other Compositions
- If you do not want to write an opinion essay, you might try a
Book Review or Book Report.
- It could be a book you are reading for another class or for
your own pleasure.
