Breaking Away - 7

Episode Summary:

• Dave learns a lesson in life during the bicycle race against the Italians.
• He also comes to understand his father better.
• Dave also tells Catherine who he really is, she gets angry with him and breaks up.
  Dave changes from pretending to be Italian to be an American again.
• He and his dad finally have a talk and Dave begins to understand his dad a bit better.

C. I feel like one of those dwarves. You know, when they find out Snow White's dead.

DD. No, I don't feel lucky to be alive, I feel lucky I'm not dead. There's a difference.

D. I'm sorry I gave him back his money. I really am. Everybody cheats. I just didn't know.

DD. You guys still go swimmin’ in the quarries?
D. Sure.
DD. So the only thing you got for my 20 years of work is the holes we left behind.
D. I don't mind.
DD. I do. Cyril's dad says he took that college exam.
D. We both took it.
DD. How did both of us do?
D. Well, I dunno. One of us did ok, but neither of us . . . Hell, I don't wanna go to college, Dad. To hell with them. I'm proud of being a cutter.
DD. You're not a cutter, I'm a cutter. What are you afraid?
D. A little bit. And then there's the rest of the guys.
