Starting and continuing social and work relationships.

Directive
Trying to influence the actions of others; accepting or refusing
direction.

- Persuading someone to change a point of view

- Requesting and granting permission
|

Referential
Talking or reporting about things, actions, events, people,
etc. in the past or the future.
- Identifying items in the students surroundings

- Asking for a description of someone or something
|
- Defining or asking for a definition of something
|
- Paraphrasing, summarizing, or translating something
|
- Discussing possibilities, or capabilities
|
- Explaining how something works
|
- Comparing and contrasting
|
- Asking how something works
|
- Reporting facts about an event
|
- Evaluating the results of an event or action

Imaginative
- Discussing a movie, story, song, etc.

- Expanding ideas based on a reading
|
- Suggesting original endings to stories
|
- Recombining familiar dialogues
