  • Expressing agreement
  • Expressing disagreement
  • Interrupting politely
  • Complimenting someone

Directive
Trying to influence the actions of others; accepting or refusing direction.

  • Making suggestions
  • Making requests
  • Refusing a suggestion
  • Offering an alternative
  • Persuading someone to change a point of view
  • Requesting and granting permission
  • Asking for help
  • Giving instructions
  • Asking for directions
  • Giving directions
