- CEP will be divided
into three main sections. Writing,
Listening, and Speaking.
- Wednesday classes
will be Writing.
- Friday classes
will be Listening and Speaking.
- In addition,
there will be a Project each term
and a section on vocabulary.

Vocabulary: |

1.
Journal:
- You will write
a journal (see the Journal page).
- It is worth 20%
of your mark each term.
2. Portfolio:
a. During the
term, you will write many compositions on different topics.
- I will mark
mistakes and make comments on your compositions.
- You will revise
your compositions based on my comments.
- During the
term I will not grade your compositions (i.e. put A, B, C, D, etc.
on them).
- You will keep
all of your compositions in an envelope, folder or clear pocket
file. This is your portfolio.
- At the end
of each term you will choose your 2 best compositions from your
portfolio to give to me. I will put a grade -- A, B, C, etc. on
them.
b. Be very careful
not to lose your compositions.
c. Your portfolio
is worth 30% of your mark each term.
4.
Attendance:
If you do not come to class, you will fail and will be required to withdraw
from CEP.
5.
Materials:
a. A note-book
for your journal.
b. Loose-leaf paper for compositions if you want to write using pen
and paper.
c. A folder, envelope or clear pocket file for your writing.
d. A small notebook for your vocabulary book.
e. There will be no text book.
6.
Goal:
The purpose of writing in English is to help you to develop your ability
to think about, organize, and write about topics in English.
The listening part of CEP will be a News Video
Listening Diary.
The speaking part of CEP will have two sections.
- A weekly discussion based on your News
Video Listening Diary.
- Learning to use functions in these five categories: Personal, Interpersonal,
Directive, Referential, and Imaginative.
